Daily feeding, care and management of forty-five horses, overseeing veterinary and farrier scheduling, organizing schooling shows and events, administering first aid and medications
Currently I am a stable manager at a school. I manage the care of 45+ horses including overseeing staff and instructing students. I also assist in organizing horse shows, horse trials and clinics. Previously I have worked at one of the top hunter barns on the East coast as a rider and stable manager. I also trained young hunter/jumper prospects in Germany. Prior I gained managment experience working year round at a camp managing the trail riding barn. Before that I worked as a wrangler at a high end guest ranch developing interpersonal skills leading inexperienced riders on mountainous riders and managing a herd of 120 horses. My internship at Kentucky Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Center provided me with invaluable knowledge of medications, bandaging, rehabilitation, scheduling and holding horses for veterinarians and farriers.
My main interest is in equine sports medicine and equine exercise physiology. I also have a passion for teaching students both riding and stable management. I enjoy working with young horses and training in general, because I find it so rewarding. I have focused most of my equine experiences on equine first aid, rehabilitation and show preparation.
I have trained and shown mainly as a hunter jumper rider, but have had a few years experience eventing and barrel racing. I have worked at Thoroughbred training centers exercising young race horses as well. I have also had experience breaking and training warmbloods, Rocky Mountain Horses, Thoroughbreds and Morgans. I have prepared these horses for anything from trail riding to the race track.
I spent many years competing in hunters and jumpers locally and through B rated shows mainly in Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts and Vermont. I trained my own show prospects and worked with a trainer who trained with Victor Hugo Vidal.
