I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
My name is Daisie, I am 18 years old and have owned horses for the past 5 years. I have previously worked on an international showjumping yard and am keen to pursue my next job. I am open to any discipline and able to adapt to every yards standards and needs.
currently working in RDA but wanting to break into the eventing industry. hard working, empathetic and handy with a tool.pretty brave rider always wanting to progress as far as possible, can be flexible with hours/days working.
I've been riding horses off and on since I was 7 years old. I had a few riding lessons with Grafton Riding Stables from the ages of 7-8. Then I started riding at Cornerstone Ranch when I was 9 and that's when I began to ride more frequently. For a couple of years I rode every Saturday on every one of their then 10 horses. I was a counselor-in-training at their horse camps and occasionally helped teach younger children how to safely handle and ride horses. I started riding in small local horse shows when I was about 14 years old and rode in horse shows with that barn for three summers on several different horses. I have ridden their two-year-old stallion. I have experience handling, grooming, bathing, catching, tacking-up, trailer-loading, and riding horses. I have trail-ridden at Ridge Valley Stables (and I've recently helped with a few of their pony parties). But I haven't been around horses as much as I used to be as I was kept very busy with two jobs and school, so I'm a bit rusty.
I've done mainly flatwork and trail-riding over the years. At the riding stable I went to the classes were a little hectic as their was only one riding instructor so we worked a lot on discipline, riding for pleasure, equitation (gait transitions, flying lead changes, bending, side-passing). And I did a lot of jumping as I advanced as a rider, first trotting the courses, then cantering them (the highest I've jumped is 3 feet). I basically know how handle a horse in any situation at any gait.
I rode for 2 summers in a row in Barre's Summer Horse Show Series. There were 4-5 shows a summer. I participated in mainly flat work classes such as Equitation, Pleasure, and Disipline Rail in the 12-17 year age division (walk-trot or walk-trot-canter depending on which horse I was riding). I participated in Trail and Jumping (the courses were eight jumps, all cross-rails), and occasionally Sit-A-Buck. I usually did well in Trail and won about 5 blue ribbons in that class.
