I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
My name is Daisie, I am 18 years old and have owned horses for the past 5 years. I have previously worked on an international showjumping yard and am keen to pursue my next job. I am open to any discipline and able to adapt to every yards standards and needs.
currently working in RDA but wanting to break into the eventing industry. hard working, empathetic and handy with a tool.pretty brave rider always wanting to progress as far as possible, can be flexible with hours/days working.
Cleaning stalls, cleaning/filling water buckets, preparing and distributing lunch buckets for each horse, feeding hay, longing, tacking up, grooming, schooling client horses, teaching riding lessons, assisting and competing in shows.
I started my career western and started to ride english when I was thirteen years old. I then became a working student every day. I dedicated my childhood to work up to my first show at fifteen years old. I moved up in the ranks and became a paid assistant at eighteen. At eighteen I participated in my first "Mini"-Prix and won second against professionals. As an assistant, I teach several lessons a day and ride every day. I have taken in Thoroughbreds off the track and then sold them to competitive show barns around California. I also have taken in a pony who was broke to ride in a pen and she is now teaching little kid walk/trot lessons and competes in the 0.70m with her leaser. After working with Thoroughbreds, I am working with a five y.o. Oldenburg mare who I have successfully shown in the Baby Greens 2'6" devision twice and we did our first Hunter Derby.
I am very patient along with being eager to learn. I am a considered an American hunter rider and I have a soft seat and hand. I have worked with young Thoroughbreds off the track and trained them into competitive athletes. I have good experience with younger horses around 3-6 years old and I am looking to further that knowledge.
While riding I work with cavilettis and poles every day to help with focus and balance. I practice fluid and organised flat work and once I feel like the horse is ready, I will then jump them. I am more focused on straightness and balance for the horse I am riding before I even think about putting the jump height up. I enjoy effective flat work and working on building strength and stamina.
I have yet to participate in an A circuit show because they are very costly but I am experienced in county shows. I am hoping that getting training abroad will help me prepare for serious competitions.
