I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
My name is Daisie, I am 18 years old and have owned horses for the past 5 years. I have previously worked on an international showjumping yard and am keen to pursue my next job. I am open to any discipline and able to adapt to every yards standards and needs.
currently working in RDA but wanting to break into the eventing industry. hard working, empathetic and handy with a tool.pretty brave rider always wanting to progress as far as possible, can be flexible with hours/days working.
Level 3 Extended Diploma in Animal Management
I am currently unemployed however I volunteer every day for an elderly friend at her field. I help with her horses, sheep, chickens, geese and ducks. I feed, hay and water the horses every day with occasional grooming.
I have had in total three years of riding lessons. Two years of that as a child. I have part loaned a pony for around six months (3-7 days per week). During that time i was solely responsible for her care. Including catching/turning out, mucking out the stable, feeding, watering, giving hay, grooming, tacking up, schooling, hacking and lunging. After the part loan ended i started helping a friend at her field with the horses and other animals. I have also worked with two foals ages between 5 months and two years. One of which came to us barely weaned and had been pulled away from his mom, not halter broken. One month on he is a happy, healthy little colt who will walk happily with me.
I would still class myself as a novice rider. I had at least one lesson a week whilst loaning the pony. During lessons i did pole work, turns, circles, leg yeilding, small jumps, and worked on transitions between walk/trot. I hacked both in company and alone which i am happy to do on sensible ponies/horses. Once over the confidence barrier i would like to be able to canter on all horses/ponies as i did when i was younger.
I have not been in any ridden competitions as i have not had the experience and opportunity. I have competed in one show, completeing three in hand classes with one of the horses who i am currently helping with.
