I am less than 5 months from completing high school, after which I will have also completed my first year of college through high school/college hybrid classes. I am currently taking a veterinary science course and I am aiming towards a veterinary degree. I have worked with all ages and sizes of horses, none under the age of 2.
College classes, internship and volunteer work with horses, livestock, poultry
4 years of on-and-off riding, self-educating, and taking advice from all kinds of horse people. I started with weekly lessons or trail riding western. I had 14 months of volunteering at a private barn with over a dozen horses, including general barn, livestock, and horse maintenance, training of new volunteers, riding for pleasure once a week and getting unofficial lessons from other riders. Did an internship for ~2 months at a lesson and boarder barn in NY, working full-time doing barn and land management, acting as a camp counselor for children during weekdays, show prepping, occasional training assistant. Currently I work for a private barn feeding and cleaning stalls two days of the week. I am proficient at grooming, tacking, feeding, cleaning, washing, learning, interacting with children and clients, and more. I am passionate about my job and fully devoted to learning as much about horses as possible.
-Adaptable -Proficient working with any kind of animal and person -Detail oriented -Creative problem-solving
I have had on and off riding for about 4 years, most of which is concentrated in the last 2. I self-teach and learn by experience more than I have had professional lessons, and I am confident riding English and Western at a walk, trot, canter, and gallop, and walk/trot bareback. I have not done any kind of eventing or jumping but I am more than willing to learn.
