Due to a change in circumstances I'm currently looking for a part time riding role, 4 mornings a week, but can be flexible. I have over 16 years experience within the industry and have produced horses from youngstock up to intermediate. I'm happy to work with all sorts, from happy hackers to fit competition horses. UC Davis Event Team: active competing member and president USEA Area 6 Young Riders: competing member Experience working as a groom, camp counselor and vet tech (UC Davis School of Veterinary Medecine)
Previous occupations: working student, camp counselor, tack store worker, veterinary assistant (UC Davis Vet Med Teaching Hospital)
I own 2 mares and have competed both extensively (hunters and eventing). I have also worked with a number of other green horses, helping their owners put miles on them. I was president of my university's three day eventing team which involved organising new members and competitions as well as introducing them to the sport of eventing. I began riding as a three year old and have held jobs as a French equestrian camp counselor, ICU vet tech, tack store sales rep, and working student. I have extensive experience grooming, braiding, and dealing with injuries (soft tissue, illness and wounds). I am very knowledgeable in horse care and management, having taken university equine science classes. I have also taught as a riding instructor for children and managed various horse-related games (on and off horseback). Both of my mares are now retired but I continue to ride regularly. I can bandage, braid and groom effectively and efficiently.
I have a wide range of skills which apply well to camp and barn work. I am a good leader and thanks to my experience living in over 10 countries I am able to relate to and communicate well with people from a wide range of backgrounds. I worked as a tutor for young kids, some of which had learning difficulties, which taught me how to communicate clearly and teach effectively. I enjoy helping others learn.
I have experience working with green and young horses as well as competing in three day eventing, dressage, hunters and jumpers. I enjoy working with horses and students to help them progress and improve. I believe the training muse be tailored to the individual horse and there is no "one size fits all" training style.
Competed extensively in three day eventing and hunters as well as dressage and jumpers.
