I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
My name is Daisie, I am 18 years old and have owned horses for the past 5 years. I have previously worked on an international showjumping yard and am keen to pursue my next job. I am open to any discipline and able to adapt to every yards standards and needs.
currently working in RDA but wanting to break into the eventing industry. hard working, empathetic and handy with a tool.pretty brave rider always wanting to progress as far as possible, can be flexible with hours/days working.
I have not taken any formal equine courses; everything I have learned has been on the job. I am very eager to learn what I can!
Medical treatment on companion animals, running tests, and assisting large animal veterinarians with horses on farm calls.
For me it started with taking care of summer camp horses from 2009 - 2014, everything from feeding, mucking, grooming, tacking up, leading some trail rides, and walking alongside the horses that carried younger kids.
Later in 2014, I gained employment at the Deerpark Carriage & Trail barn on the Biltmore Estate, where for about two years I took care of approximately 40 trail horses through feeding, mucking, grooming, saddling, assisting the equine vet when they came, maintaining trails and fencing, and leading guided walk-only rides across estate property. In 2016, I transitioned to Biltmore's equestrian center, where I took care of nearly 70 horses: feeding both full board and pasture board horses, mucking, medical treatment, repairing fences, working on trails, weedeating, driving tractors, dragging arenas, and assisting with events such as horsemanship clinics and endurance races. I was there until 2019 when I was hired at my current job.
I have handled a wide variety of breeds, from minis to shires to off-the-track thoroughbreds. I have only handled one stallion regularly so I am limited in that aspect but I would love to gain more experience.
I have mostly only ridden on leisurely trail rides and taken small jumps, all in Western saddles, but I have some English experience. I do not have experience starting or training green/problem horses but I am eager to learn what I can!
I have not competed or assisted in organizing a competition, but I have helped set jumps for classes and assisted people at the entry table.
