I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
My name is Daisie, I am 18 years old and have owned horses for the past 5 years. I have previously worked on an international showjumping yard and am keen to pursue my next job. I am open to any discipline and able to adapt to every yards standards and needs.
I am completing high school in the spring, so I have not completed any equine college courses. However, I am very eager to learn more about all aspects of horses, from training or riding, to injuries and medical aspects. I plan to have a future career in the horse world, most likely as an equine surgeon or a trainer. I have also helped treat minor injuries that have occurred at the stables I ride at and was a volunteer who taught multiple children for summer camps about horse health.
School includes lots of studying and tutoring other students. Stable hand jobs include: Feeding hay and grain, turning horses in and out, cleaning stalls, cleaning tack, cobwebbing, and brushing and exercising horses.
• I have been riding since November 2016 • I have primarily done dressage and flat work, nothing too complicated or high up in levels • I have assisted at horse shows including running errands for trainers and helping riders get ready • I have been a volunteer at the riding stables I take lessons at since January 2017 • I have done numerous jobs around the barn including raking, water buckets and tanks, feeding hay and grain, cleaning stalls, sweeping, lunging horses, assisting with lessons, and other various jobs that have been asked of me • I volunteered at many camps ranging in different riding styles including game days, obstacle courses, free rides, etc. • I have been asked to ride horses when they are struggling with something to help them become more balanced and relaxed • I have helped at camps with students with varying experience levels, including students who had never ridden a horse • I was an unpaid teacher/volunteer at a local barn for summer camp from June-Aug
• I have helped with numerous riding camps with young children from ages 5 and up and am good at working with children and people of all ages • I am good at teaching children how to do different tasks necessary as a horse owner, such as rake the barn or bathe a horse • I have helped with teaching both theory and assisted with the riding portion of camps •I am good at being patient and helping calm students down when they get frustrated • I can stay calm and focused in unexpected situations
• I have mainly done flat work and dressage • I have experience in riding western and English, but ride primarily English • I have prepared for one show, but it was cancelled due to Covid 19 • I have done jumping once or twice, so I am not skilled in that area, but would love to improve my jumping abilities • I have ridden some green horses to get them worked into a lesson program • I have ridden a few problem horses to help make sure they are relaxed and suitable for beginner riders
• I am very willing to do anything that is asked of me, including unique or odd requests • I am hardworking • I strive for perfection in all tasks I complete • The care and well being of the horses is my top priority • I am friendly and am able to get along with anyone • I do well working alone or with others • I have over six years of horse experience with riding and helping with chores and jobs around the barn
