Stated above.
Feeding and caring for horses.
I entered the “horse world” at thirteen and cleaned stalls for lessons. I had the opportunity to imprint foals, do basic horse training and exercise, and managed the board and lesson payments. During the summer I worked at the horse camp teaching beginning riding to kids. The summers of 1996 - 1999 I worked as a riding instructor for the Girl Scouts Council. In 1999 I feed, mucked stalls, and turned out at the Town and Country Equestrian Center. Horses will always be a part of my life.
I purchased a two-year-old Trakehner in March 2011 to start. I trained weekly with an instructor where I board and every two weeks, Mary McGuire Smith gave me a lesson. She is a USDF "L" Judges Training Program Graduate and a ARIA Certified Level III Dressage Instructor. We were beginning our training on half pass and then would move into flying changes. We have encountered some challenges this year with her health, but we're working our way back and discovering what Indie's new normal will be.
Dressage.
Initially I started with jumping and I have participated in a variety of schooling shows. I have ridden in several fox hunts, hunter paces, and I spent a great deal of time on the trails. My focus has been in dressage since 2006.
As was stated above I mainly showed in schooling shows in my youth. Now I just ride and train for the love of riding.
