I have been around horses since I was 6 years old. I took lessons twice weekly till I was 15 and I purchased my first horse. Since then I have worked at three different boarding barns as a stall cleaner/general stable hand and as a working student. My work included cleaning stalls/paddocks, turning out and bringing in the horses, feeding in the am/pm, and watering the horses. I also have done general maintenece from painting to weeding and grounds keeping. I have worked winters with heavy snowfall(3 feet in two weeks) as well as hot and dry or humid summers with temperatures near 100. I know how to pack and poultice a hoof, apply stable wraps, general equine first aid and minor wound care. I know how to braid/plait a mane, as well as trimming the face, ears and fetlocks for show. I also know how to body clip. In my working student experience I regularly schooled four horses a day of various levels on the flat and over fences.
I started dressage lessons at the age of 11. I am a confident English rider on the flat at the lower dressage levels with a secure seat and soft hands. I have competed at local and rated dressage shows and unrecognized events. I've shown through first level dressage with scores up to the low 70s and I am comfortable jumping 2'6"-3'.
