As of December 2021 I will have a degree in Equine Sciences from Colorado State University.
I am currently studying Equine Sciences at Colorado State University along with a minor in Business Administration. I have learned the basics in many areas of the equine industry and have started to dive into the more specific subjects.
I’ve gained knowledge and skills working with horses through a wide range of experiences. Studying Equine Science at Colorado State University has allowed me the opportunity to take many equine classes taught both hands-on and in the classroom. Both the Right Horse and Legends of Ranching Programs taught me much of what I know about training and schooling horses. With my rescue in the Right Horse Program, I learned about working with an older horse who has had the chance to learn bad habits whereas in the Legends of Ranching Program, I worked with two- and three-year-old horses, training them through many of their firsts. In the Legends of Ranching Program, I was constantly a self-starter as one of the first students to the barn each morning. I earned most of my time in the saddle working as a wrangler in Estes Park with SK Horses, Ltd. Over two summers I commonly worked twelve-hour days riding for up to ten hours as a wrangler. I then also managed the barn my second year.
I have experience working with young horses through the Legends of Ranching Program at Colorado State University. Through this class we start colts. I have experience leading a team of up to around six wranglers and thirty horses for around twelve hours with SK Horses, Ltd. in Estes Park, CO.
I'm a predominately Western rider with very little experience in an English saddle. I have rode a few rescue horses, around 20 different young horses across a semester, as well as a variety of broke horses. I have only done flat work, no jumping. I have experience starting horses from the Legends of Ranching Program at Colorado State University. I am also the teaching assistant for this class for this semester until graduation in December.
