currently working in RDA but wanting to break into the eventing industry. hard working, empathetic and handy with a tool.pretty brave rider always wanting to progress as far as possible, can be flexible with hours/days working.
Due to a change in circumstances I'm currently looking for a part time riding role, 4 mornings a week, but can be flexible. I have over 16 years experience within the industry and have produced horses from youngstock up to intermediate. I'm happy to work with all sorts, from happy hackers to fit competition horses. Quiet but firm rider, who can deal with quirks if necessary. Ideally within 30 mins of Newark but happy to travel up to an hour for the right place.
From Showjumping, to showing/eventing and foals through to stallions I have experience in all aspects of the equestrian world. I am looking for my next long term journey where I can spend my days working with the animals I love, and carry out my exceptionally high standards for the right person.
I grew up on 300+ acres, riding, breaking babies, training green horses, learning from great East Coast equestrians & showing ponies through the Juniors. In College I rode on the IEA Team in the Open Division & helped make it to Nationals. After graduating I worked full time & started riding & training on weekday evenings & weekends. Eventually, leaving corporate America I became a trainer & manager for a family at their farm with a large lesson program & coaching a high school riding team.
As a tween I was the president of my 4H, & National competitor at Knowdown in Pony Club (it's a knowledge competition for kids). As a teen & summers home from college I worked every summer at my barn's summer camp as an instructor. I taught beginner through advanced riding lessons. Gave multiple daily lectures educating about horses. I trailered other kids to the local horses shows & helped school the horses & the kids while successfully competing on my own & other's horses. I was the president of my college's Nationally ranked riding team for 2 of the 4 years. After college, I caught rode & schooled horses while working a full time job. Eventually, having my own clients with their own show horses. I also coached a high school riding team to Nationals, several riding lessons, & coached weekend horse shows. I showed and schooled clients horses during the week preparing them for their owners successes.
I have always had a passion to learn more about horses. Especially their training, health and wellbeing. Whether working with a difficult horse under saddle, a 'hard keeper's' nutrition or 'mysterious ailment'. I love working with equine professions to help better a horse. Bettering humans is also a desire of mine. From young children learning to post & pick up that difficult hind leg to older amateurs struggling with confidence entering the show ring.
When I was younger I rode, broke & trained ponies. Being tall, I quickly moved onto the hot Thoroughbreds (it was the 90s). My quiet hand & seat were soothing wich allowed for many successes with the hotter horses. I Fox hunted in Virginia, rode cross country on my Junior hunter (he was a saint). My British riding instructor was very into dressage. I competing through 1st level. Dressage was very useful when completing in the Equitation ring, which was more of my forte. Great flatwork is a must.
I purchased a dressage horse 3 yrs ago with 60 day over fences. Successfully taught him to use himself well over fences. Within this time he has since won National Hunter Derby's with me, multiple Championships in the Adults, several wins & top ribbons in the 3'3" modified & Medal classes. I feel my attention to detail has helped make our successes possible. I've worked closely with professionals: vets, chiropractor, body workers, spa, trainers. I've researched his supplements, feed, month meds.
