I did not major in anything equine related but have years of experience.
instructing students, managing students, organizing lessons, communicating with parents
I was a part-time caretaker at a hunter/jumper barn in New Jersey that was owned by my college coach. Similarly, my Aunt owns a small barn and I was the primary caretaker of the barn during my summers as a high school student.
I have experience coaching and managing a college IHSA team. I also have experience with being the full caretaker of a small barn.
I would say that I was often the guinea pig when it came to riding difficult horses at our barn. My trainer always trusted that I wouldn't get overwhelmed and would listen to her guidance regardless of the scenario. I have helped train a few green horses with flat work and jumping. I am very good at taking direction and responding quickly to potentially serious situations.
I grew up completed at local shows. I was involved in the 4-H for 7 years and completed in 4-H horse shows at the county and state level. I also competed in college with IHSA and made it to the Open level before graduating.
