I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
My name is Daisie, I am 18 years old and have owned horses for the past 5 years. I have previously worked on an international showjumping yard and am keen to pursue my next job. I am open to any discipline and able to adapt to every yards standards and needs.

ln my most recent equine role I worked on a livery yard, just outside of London. In this role I worked as part of a small team to take care of thirty-four horses. This involved mucking out (quickly and neatly), turning out, grooming and exercising horses on full livery. I worked for two seasons as a polo groom in Australia. I had sole charge of a string of eleven horses and I was responsible for all their competition preparation, getting them match fit, and ensuring they were in great condition and well turned out. In the run up to tournaments it would be my responsibility to ensure all of the tack etc was in good working order and organised for travel. Work at tournaments included tacking up (with quick tack changes between chukkas), plaiting, bandaging and warming up the horses. I would also perform any necessary aftercare post match to ensure the horses were at minimum risk of picking up an injury. I have also worked as a trek guide in a busy riding school and other livery yards.
I take great pride in my work and like to have both the horses and the yard looking as presentable as I possibly can! Not one to sit still, I am proactive in my work and can always find something that needs doing. Working as part of a team is hugely satisfying but I am also happy working alone and can be trusted to get on with the job. I have experience managing a small team and training those with less experience. Horses are a lifelong passion for me.
Having grown up riding not just one but many different horses I am both used to and happy to get on and ride a variety of horses and ponies of all shapes, sizes and temperaments. I can confidently school on the flat and over jumps and enjoy hacking out. I can also ride to build and maintain fitness. Working as a polo groom I have the ability to ride and lead.
Competed in unaffiliated showjumping up to 1m.
