currently working in RDA but wanting to break into the eventing industry. hard working, empathetic and handy with a tool.pretty brave rider always wanting to progress as far as possible, can be flexible with hours/days working.
Due to a change in circumstances I'm currently looking for a part time riding role, 4 mornings a week, but can be flexible. I have over 16 years experience within the industry and have produced horses from youngstock up to intermediate. I'm happy to work with all sorts, from happy hackers to fit competition horses. Quiet but firm rider, who can deal with quirks if necessary. Ideally within 30 mins of Newark but happy to travel up to an hour for the right place.
From Showjumping, to showing/eventing and foals through to stallions I have experience in all aspects of the equestrian world. I am looking for my next long term journey where I can spend my days working with the animals I love, and carry out my exceptionally high standards for the right person.
I have recently completed my first year at Hartpury college walking away with a Distinction in a diploma in horse care and management, I was targeted at Distinction for my second year had I completed it. In my GCSE's I accomplished good grades in Maths, English and Science, achieving 6's and 7's in most subjects. I am currently aiming to start my BHS stages and eventually work my way up the instructor levels.
Being brought up around horses since I was young, I have a great deal of experience with different types of horses. Most recently I have worked on Hartpury Yard once a week, as well as occasional weekends and show duties alongside my course. I have also completed 2 weeks of work experience on a trekking yard in the New Forest where I led rides, completed general yard duties and helped first time riders on and off of horses as well as understand the very basics of riding. My time on these two yards has allowed me to work with a variety of different horses ranging in size and temperaments, my current gelding often grows a couple extra hands when coming across something spooky, like a leaf, in true warmblood fashion. My experience with younger ponies and green horses means I adjust well to spooky or flighty horses and cope well with challenges faced. Owning my own horse, I have a basic knowledge of equine first aid and the daily care of minor injuries as well as box rested horses.
I enjoy the daily jobs of a yard and have a high quality I hold myself to in any task I am asked of. I complete general yard jobs quickly, efficiently and to a high standard. Whilst I have no experience in specialist areas such as stud work, I learn quickly and listen well and look forward to accepting new challenges and learning from those above me. I am a tidy person and generally just get on and do the things that need doing and am happy to do stables for hours before going near a horse.
I have ridden a range of horses, typically schooling ex-racers and trickier horses whilst at Hartpury. I enjoy my jump work, though I understand the importance of flatwork and enjoy schooling horses and getting them to work correctly. I have experience in riding ponies straight from being backed and producing them so that they are more suitable for children. I have also had the pleasure of being paid to ride horses whilst their owners have been unable to do so, this mostly includes schooling.
I am currently competing at 100cm sj on my warmblood, only starting his sj career this summer, we hunt regularly and have aims to team chase and event in the future. I have helped in the running of many shows when at Hartpury, as well as pc comps and camps when I am at home, often leading smaller children - giving me a good ability to catch riders about to go out the side door. I have helped groom for friends when competing, as well as preparing my own horse for our competitions.
