BHS Stage 2
I am currently a groom at a 5* livery yard, with 37 horses; carrying out general yard duties, riding, sole charge and responsibilities for making and purchasing feeds.
I have been riding for 15 years, achieving my BHS Stage 2 within this time. I am both confident around horses and riding any type of horse or pony. I have experience riding both green and young horses. I have trained a pony as part of my university course and have in-depth knowledge of their behaviour. I have also completed a dissertation project on horse social networks, including carrying out behavioural observations of a group of domestic and wild horses. I have volunteered at riding schools, helping with the pony club, leading children in lessons and running pony rides for children. Currently I have gained experience in the equine industry by working at a livery yard for over a year.
I am a hardworking and enthusiastic person, with experience working with a range of animals and completing multiple years of summer work with children. I am a team player who can use their initiative to complete any tasks given to me to the best of my ability. I am a dedicated person, having committed to learning the clarinet and saxophone throughout the past 12 years and learning to speak fluent French. I am a friendly and confident person who has always had a passion to work with horses.
I grew up learning to ride at a riding school, having ridden new horses to the yard who are slightly green. I have experience riding young horses at both riding schools and livery yards. In my current work I have gained experience riding a wide range of horses, and am confident doing so. I am able to walk, trot, canter and jump up to a metre and am confident out hacking too. My current work is mainly focused in dressage riding and therefore I have learnt to ride classic dressage moves as well.
