I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
My name is Daisie, I am 18 years old and have owned horses for the past 5 years. I have previously worked on an international showjumping yard and am keen to pursue my next job. I am open to any discipline and able to adapt to every yards standards and needs.

Stage 1 BHS Level 5 Distinction Equine Studies. Level 7 Bachelor of Business in Hotel and Catering Management Studying Equine Integrative support therapies
BHS Stage 1
I am responsible for feeding all horses (10 - 25). Mucking out stables, taking care of the horses, ensuring they are all receiving the care that they need individually. I take treks out with tourists. I mostly work on my own.
I began Horse riding as a young child, having to ride young horses, difficult horses and breakers. I worked as far as my C test in PC, competing regularly with showjumping and eventing, having to turn out my own horse for events. Received a Distinction in Equine studies back in 2017, got a job as a showjumping groom, took part in some hunts with young horses. I was responsible for feeding rota, turning out, exercising and I also broke one horse in my time there. At competitions, I was responsible for all the horses to be looked after. I was head groom in a polo yard in Oz. My responsibilities included feeding out, loading, exercising(on set), bandaging and plaiting tails for games. I learned how to work fast and efficiently in my time there. Currently studying a physical therapy course, I have learned so much more about horses in 2 years than I ever have. I have gained more respect and understanding for the horse. Being able to read their body language to understand where issues are.
I have worked with school horses, hunting horses, showjumpers and leisure horses. Keeping young stock and broodmares at home means I am always working with horses. I like to work in a clean environment for both the horses and visitors. I have given people guidance, delegating tasks and communicating more challenging jobs. Currently studying equine physical therapy, I have learned how to read posture, demeanor as a pain response. I have learned how to better understand signs the horse is showing.
As I drifted away from horses, I lost my nerve a little bit. I am more than happy to school on the flat. With a little encouragement I will jump. I love cross country and enjoy a little bit of hunting from time to time. I have a good eye so I work well on the ground too.
