My name is Daisie, I am 18 years old and have owned horses for the past 5 years. I have previously worked on an international showjumping yard and am keen to pursue my next job. I am open to any discipline and able to adapt to every yards standards and needs.
Have worked at a few different barns as either a co-op student, working student or volunteer.
I rode at a Hunter/Jumper facility where I completing a year-long co-op program as a way to earn my last high school credits. I worked at the barn 5 days a week doing daily barn tasks such as mucking, turnout, sweeping, feeding, grooming, tacking, water checks, blanketing horses, harrowing the arena and lifting hay bales. I also shadowed instructors and helped with beginner lessons.
I was a student worker at a classical dressage barn for three months. I lived onsite and was responsible for everyday barn chores. In addition, I handled, exercised and rode stallions daily and assisted in training fillies. I acquired valuable experience in the beginning stages of training young horses and basic equine first-aid.
I volunteered at CARD, an association for riders with disabilities. I looked after the horses and assisted with the therapeutic riding program.
Beginner/Novice, Hunter/Jumper Rider Classical Dressage Rider
At the Hunter/Jumper barn I learned the basic walk, trot and canter work. I did a lot of pole work, 2 foot cross rail and vertical jumps and jumped a few small oxers.
At the classical dressage barn I had the opportunity to help train fillies and ride stallions. I learned how to do simple and flying lead changes, shoulder in, travers and half pass.
I have experience working horses in hand, lunging them on lunge lines and free lunging.
Have competed in a few in house Hunter/Jumper schooling shows.
