Carriages of Acadia, Inc. (COA) is a family-owned Maine Corporation which holds a concession contract with the National Park Service to provide horse-drawn carriage tours and private horse boarding facilities in Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island, Maine. COA offers tours over the carriage roads built in the early 1900s by John D. Rockefeller, Jr. and provides boarding facilities for up to 34 horses per night onsite at Wildwood Stables. Private individuals may ride and drive the 52 miles of carriage roads without having to contend with motorized traffic. Wildwood Stables is a park owned facility out of which COA operates from May to Oct, and includes 5 barns, an office, paddocks for 10 teams of draft horses, a carriage barn, campsites with full hook ups, crew housing and bathroom facilities.
