Kent School is a private boarding school located in CT, that offers riding to about 30 students yearly. The program is a combination of school-owned and privately owned horses with a modest show schedule.
Currently seeking a barn manager, responsibilities include:
Managing daily care and grain for up to 32 horses
Placing grain and feed orders
Ordering hay and shavings for the barn
Scheduling and overseeing routine vet visits and weekly farrier visits
Managing vet visits and coordinating with trainers in the event a horse is lame or injured
Executing specialized care of horses in the event of illness or injury
Keeping meticulous records of all horse care related events
Managing a small staff of barn assistants and helpers
Helping coordinate the entry and exit of privately owned horses from the barn at the start and finish of the academic year
Assisting with mucking stalls several days/week, more as needed
Helping ensure that the barn is clean and well maintained
