I’m 19 and looking for a working student position to further my riding skills. I have just started cantering, and I aspire to be a trainer. I am motivated to make a career in the equine industry!
I have two years of volunteer vet work, and i've been training and working with horses my whole life. I've been working at the Mendes ranch which is a working horse and cattle ranch. I am an experienced trail guide, and have worked with rides of all sorts, from riders of no experience to children and adults with special needs. There is nothing I love more than getting someone on a horse for their first time, teaching them to trust and over come their fears.
We had 100+ horses on a working ranch in Maui Hawaii. My duties included feeding and grooming, tacking, exercise and basic vet care such as worming exe. I was also a working trail guide where I would be responsible for 15-25 people on the trail.
I've been riding sense before I could walk, owned my first horse when I was 4 and I've never stopped riding. I've done stable hand and exercise work at multiple dressage stables, and trained my horse and myself up to level 4. I trained and broke in my horses foul when I was 13. Most recently I've been working at the Mendes Ranch in Maui Hawaii. Where I have learned to ride western, roping, take care of live stalk, and being apart of the best rated trail guides on the Island. My duties were to take care of a heard of almost 100 horses, feeding, bathing, grooming, and basic vet care was my responsibility. I'm a well rounded rider, a hard worker, and have allot of experience and passion under my belt.
I'm an experienced trail guide, I've worked with kids, and special needs children and adults. I've taken out up to 20 riders at a time, and provided a fun informative and safe trail ride. I can handle multiple horses at a time, and can saddle up to 30 horses in under and hour. I am very experienced in cutting/herding often guiding the heard through several miles of trail to pasture. I have also done saddle breaking and training young horses to be dependable on our trails.
I've been riding my whole life, I started riding school when I was 9 and fell in love with hunter jumper. As my horse got older we made a transition into dressage, where I trained and competed for 4 years. In this past year I've made a transition to western, and quickly advanced. Im well rounded and confident in all riding styles. Though I must admit my favorite ride work will always be bareback.
I competed for fun, at the Baldwin Stables in Maui Hawaii. I competed in Hunter Jumper events, and dressage events. I still have boxes of more ribbons than I know what to do with.
