Elena has worked at many types of barns from big busy lesson barns to smaller private boarding farms. She is a great team player but also has the discipline to work independently. She is used to handling all kinds of horses from newly off the track thoroughbreds and foals to stallions and upper level show horses. She knows basic wrapping (legs and hoofs) and minor equine first aid. She also has knowledge of diseases and warning signs and experience administering oral medications. She also has 2 summers of teaching beginner riders at a busy summer camp. David's experience is mostly with the maintenance side of things, he does have experience assisting with turn in/out and blanketing.
Hi there, we are Elena and David, we have been married for 9 years and are looking for a long term live-in job. Elena has over 10 years of active equine experience as a working student, assistant barn manager, and summer camp instructor. David has 3 years of experience with horses and with farm maintenance work, including driving a tractor, mowers, assisting with barn chores, and handy man type jobs. We have a great work ethic and great people skills from years of retail work.
Most of Elena's riding experience is in Eventing. She has worked for a few local upper level riders as a working student. During this time she had the opportunity to ride many green horses (mostly OTTB's) and assist with starting youngsters. She spent her teenage years riding in equitation and hunter/jumper in weekly lessons. In recent years she has ridden mostly dressage and been introduced to western through clinics with Patrick King learning the Ray Hunt style of natural horsemanship.
Elena has competed at BN level in eventing during her time as a working student. She also rode on an adult equitation team while working and riding at Full Moon Farm in MD.
