I officially work as a cashier at a gas station, so I am responsible for keeping a clean and organized store. As well as keeping product stocked and working in a timely and efficient manner.
I have neber had an official equine job, but I have worked on the side for a family friend. I am in charge of mucking out her horse’s stall as well as her goat’s stall. I also had to feed them some mornings as well as give occasional baths and keep up with tac care. I also have permission to ride and care for one of my neighbors horses so I do so often. This includes brushing, hoof picking, bathing, tacking up and down, and general love.
I started riding when I was five with Jec Ballou. I have had lessons on and off from then to present day. I am not trained in any specific discipline, but have ridden both western and English. Last year I was given permission to ride one of my neighbors horses whenever I had the time. This allowed me to work on my own as well as create a bond with a specific horse which and gain her trust enough to go on frequent trail rides around my house.
My mother is a second grade teacher and I spend a lot of time with her in the classroom. I take on the responsibilities of doing mini lessons when she does theme days that include different stations around her room. I also helped her run a summer school program for kids in grades 1-4 for a number of years.
