Riding for 12 years worked for the same farm with increasing responsibilities over four years (Imajica as stated above) have worked as a camp instructor from ages 13 to 16 Taken Intro to equine science through the University of Vermont. where I learned first aid for horses. including recognizing signs and symptoms of cholic, absesses, ulcers, worms and more as well as how to treat them. I know but need recertification in CPR
I am research assistant in math looking for part time/full time work. I have experience working with horses both on the ground and under saddle. I can lead young horses, clean stalls, maintain a clean barn, and act as a groom.
working student at Imagica farms in Vermont USA where my day entailed feeding, turn out, clean stalls, fill hay nets, dump, clean and refill water buckets, sweep barn, remake grain, check outside waters (clean if nessicary), do projects (different every day) prep feed for horses with dietary restrictions, turn in, feed, check waters at least twice before leaving for the night. some nights i came back for night check where i would have to top off waters, make sure all horses were normal and had no signs of cholic. I can do a standing wrap, polo wrap, recognize thrush and signs of cholic or choke. I know how to take a temp. I have soaked, poulticed and wrapped hooves with abesses (with or with out the specialized boot) I have been riding for at least twelve years most of that doing some ammount of work to pay it off.
have not specialized in any one thing but willing to learn anything.
Jumping, low level dressage, with a focus on my being a more effective and efficient rider. I competed In Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) as a Novice rider. I have mostly equitation because I have never owned a horse but I have competed in both equitation and hunters. As stated above I am willing to learn just about anything.
I have most recently shown in IHSA novice where you get on a horse that you drew out of a hat get on and jump a 2foot 3inch course. I have done one wt dressage test. I have not shown outside of that due to lack of a horse but I can jump up to 2foot 9inches with the right horse (I have been catch riding lately as I am in between leases) and some low level dressage movements. (shoulder in, turn on forehand, collection and extension at the gaits.)
