I've been around horses since i was three years old. I have ridden and competed all of my life and when I was finally old enough, I jumped at the opportunity to get a job working with horses where I learned all the skills i listed above. Im not afraid to work hard, get dirty, and I'm definitely not afraid of the horses, but I do respect them and their strength.
Duties of Current Occupation
Equine Work Experience
When I was 16, I started working at Silver Top Stables in Feburary of 2016 thru June 2016. While there I turned out/turned in, water and fed, gave medication, mucked stalls, and helped students learn how to tack. I then had an oppurtunity to start working at After The Races, a rehabilitation/rehoming barn for racehorses. While there, I mucked stalls, water and fed, helped turn in/turn out. My boss, Bonnie, taught me how to wrap legs, stretch their legs if they had leg/tendon problems, and handle them in high stress situations. We would get in 2-3 year olds and Bonnie taught me the proper way to handle the baby brained Thoroughbreds.
Type of Ride Work
At Sylmar Training Facility, I helped exercise a few of their horses in training for about a month.
