Equine Work Experience
I have 16 collective years of riding experience in hunter/jumpers. I am currently interested in show jumping. I have been riding from 6 years old until 21 years old - at which point the rigors of my college curriculum did not allow me to continue. Prior, I spent upwards of 5 hours after school every day riding my own horse, hacking and schooling horses of other owners, schooling ponies, tacking up for lessons, caring for horses with special needs, and performing stablework. On weekends I often competed in horseshows with my own horse as well as sale horses. I have spent many summers, afternoons, and weekends mucking, feeding, watering, administering medications, carrying out turnout schedules, clipping, bathing horses, and other stable work. In addition to riding many high-end hunter horses, I have extensive experience with ponies - exercising, correcting bad habits, and training for sale. At the time of my departure from consistent riding, I was jumping up to 4 feet (1.2 meters).
I have may varied experiences. I have worked as an intern at the New Bolton Center, Philadelphia Zoo, and a university marine biology lab studying the effects of global warming on deep sea coral. I have also had extensive experience in animal care and operate my own dog care taking service with over 30 clients.
These different experiences are a product of, and evidence of my ability to adapt quickly to new situations and challenges, and develop new skills quickly and effectively.
