I’m 19 and looking for a working student position to further my riding skills. I have just started cantering, and I aspire to be a trainer. I am motivated to make a career in the equine industry!
I have been working with horses for almost 10 years. Mostly riding horses but I have done my fair share of barn chores. I have always just kinda done whatever was needed of me. With things such as: grooming, feeding, turn out, tacking/untacking, night check, and whatever else my trainer asked me to do. I have an extensive show record as far as riding and showing goes. However I have less experience with the grooms side of things. I am very willing to ride/show and/or groom for others.
I have been riding for nearly 10 years now. I have been competeing on the "A"/"AA" circuit for 8 years now. Most of that being hunters with some equitaion and jumpers. I am a rising sophomore at UD so I have a whole year of IHSA hunt seat under my belt. IHSA is completely catch rides esentially. You draw a horse from a hat and with no warm up you go in the ring and show. I have been to most of the major shows in the US, including: Devon, PNHS, WIHS, USEF pony finals, and zone 2 HOTY hunter finals. I've shown in everything from the pre-childrens up to the 3'3" junior hunters, and everything in between. I want to learn more about the horse world and I am willing to do what is asked of me including trying new things.
I ride mostly hunter and equitation but I do have experience in the jumpers. I currently show my own horse in the 3' adult hunters. I also compete in hunt seat IHSA for The University of Delaware. I am most comfortable and experienced in hunter/equitation. I am comfortable riding anything from a small pony to a large horse.
I have a strong flat work foundation. I have always been taught that everything needs flat work. Jumping is just flat work with jumps in between. I feel confident jumping anything up through 3'6". I'd say my strong suit is with hunters, developing young hunters and exercising made hunters. I can easily transition between hunters and equitation. However, jumpers is not my strong suit. I tend to like to take my time and make sure everything is done correctly.
I have an extensive USEF record as well as a local show record. My USEF record can be found online on USEF's website, however I don't believe my local show record was saved anywhere. I have competed with such organizations as: PHSA, EPPHA, MHSA, NAL, WIHS, Marshall and sterling, and CCHSA.
