I am currently responsible for basic stable care, including feeding, grooming, turning in/out, and cleaning stalls/paddocks. I also clean tack, ride/lunge the horses, and teach riding lessons.
I have ridden and worked with horses for almost fourteen years. I have ridden hunter seat and dressage and have competition experience with both seats, including intercollegiate experience. I have also studied the theory behind these disciplines, mainly the forward seat. I have experience with foals and young horses, including halter breaking foals and beginning the process of teaching them to be handled and groomed regularly. I have experience treating wounds in horses as well. I have worked mainly with Warmbloods, but I also have experience with Thoroughbreds. In my current position I have also been left to care for the horses and facilities while the owner/manager was away.
In the hunter seat, I am confident with work up to 1.0m/~3'3", in an arena or over solid fences, but I am prepared to move up to higher work. In dressage, I am confident with work through first level and I am prepared to work to move higher.
I have competed through the 3' hunters and equitation, qualifying for National competition through the Marshall & Sterling classes. In dressage I have competed through first level at schooling competitions. In intercollegiate hunter seat competition I showed in the Novice division, and in intercollegiate dressage I competed at the Upper Training Level division. I have done catch riding in the past, as well as riding unfamiliar horses in intercollegiate competition.
