Before college I worked at my barn five days a week feeding, cleaning stalls, stocking feed, etc. as well as schooling some of the other boarder's horses when they were away. I have gotten to work with horses of a variety of skill levels which all helped me to become a more well rounded rider.
Equine Work Experience
I have been riding horses and working on farms my entire life. Growing up my grandparents owned horses and I started taking lessons when I was around seven years old. I started in hunters when I was younger but have also taken lessons in western pleasure, jumpers, and most recently eventing. I owned my first horse from 2013 through the summer of 2017 when I unfortunately had to sell her since I was starting college. At my last barn I worked five days a week feeding, turning out, cleaning stalls, etc. I am a freshman at NC State majoring in Animal Science and hoping to pursue a career in the equine field.
Type of Ride Work
When I purchased my horse she was quite green and with the help of my trainers and many hours at the barn I was able to bring her up through hunters, jumpers, and beginner novice CT. I have done IEA and 4H as well, along with schooling shows, cross country and some dressage.
I have competed in IEA, 4H, and various local schooling shows for hunters, equitation, and jumpers. I also competed at the Carolina Horse Park through beginner novice CT.
