Horses health is my main priority. I am looking for long time solution. Can lounge and i would be interested to get to ride some flatwork/hacking (not necessary, just wanting i could further my skills) I would need a live in-position and would be greatful if i can take my two wellbaved cats with me :)
I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
My name is Daisie, I am 18 years old and have owned horses for the past 5 years. I have previously worked on an international showjumping yard and am keen to pursue my next job. I am open to any discipline and able to adapt to every yards standards and needs.
I've showed competitively in the jumper, hunter and equitation rings. When working for various trainers in NJ I schooled show horses, taught lessons, groomed/provided first aid to horses, worked with foals, organized turn out, lunged, utilized a walker, made grain, administered medication/supplements, set fences, dragged the arenas and kept the barn as clean as possible. I have many connections in the horse world, and I'm trusted to care for and work with horses effectively and efficiently.
I've been riding for 18 years, throughout which I've gained experience in all aspects of equine care. I consider the biggest achievement of my riding career thus far to be my beloved off-the-track thoroughbred whom I bought and trained myself from scratch. I was lucky to work with him for 9 years, starting when he was just 4 years old. I was able to school him 1.25+ at home and show him in the 1.15 competitively throughout my junior career and after. I was trusted by my trainers to school their horses as well as other client's horses. I've worked professionally for multiple AA-circuit hunter/jumper barns in New Jersey as a groom, exercise rider and part time instructor teaching beginner and intermediate lessons up to 3'. I've also worked for a private owner in Zone 2 with whom I attended many away shows as well as assisted her with her breeding operation. During my first semester at college, I was selected from 15 riders in the open division to join the Penn State Equestrian Team.
My specialties include grooming, flatwork, schooling over fences, working with youngstock/green horses, lunging, ground work, first aid and cleanliness. I have excellent people skills as well as experience training students of all ages. I strongly believe in building relationships based on mutual respect when it comes to working with horses and value my ability to use positive reinforcement and natural horsemanship methods to maintain healthy relationships with the animals I'm entrusted with.
I've been trained in the equitation, hunters and jumpers. I have a small amount of dressage or eventing experience and limited western experience as well.
I've won multiple ribbons at both local shows and top AA rated shows, including HITS, Princeton Show Jumping, the Garden State Horse Show, and many more. Unfortunately, I was forced to take a step backing from riding and showing over the past several years to focus on my education.
