I have worked with my trainer in starting many young horses on the ground as well as breaking them. I have also shadowed the vet, aided in multiple pre-purchase exams, and worked closely with the full-time horse show manager. I have filled in as horse show manager and barn manager on two separate occasions. My duties included coordinating with the vet and farrier, servicing clients, horse care, daily operations of the farm, working with grooms, first aid and medical care, rehabbing horses, etc.
I began riding at a hunter/jumper farm at a young age. Throughout those years I showed intermittently. Now, at age 24, I have leased horses and have shown both locally and at rated shows in the hunter ring and the equitation ring. In 2014 I filled a leave for a hunter/jumper show facility as horse show manager. I then went on to fill a leave for the same farm during the summer of 2017 and 2018 as barn manager as the full-time manager takes a leave each summer. I gained many valuable skills during these experiences such as clipping, tacking for all disciplines, medical care and first aid, working with clients, collaborating with the vet and farrier, etc. Prior to those experiences, I worked at a local tack shop for six years. During this time I gained a wide array of knowledge as to different tack options, supplements, medical care, and so on. During my four years of college, I was a member of the school's IHSA team.
I have ridden hunter/jumpers from a young age. I have experience horse showing locally and at rated shows. I also have experience showing in the IHSA. I have competed on the hunt seat team as well as the western team. I have taken horsemanship lessons and reining lessons.
I have shown locally as well as at rated shows such as Old Salem Farm, Gardnertown Farm, HITS Saugerties and Culpeper, and many others. While in college, I was a member of the school's ISHA team. As a freshman, I competed for the hunt seat team as a novice flat novice fences rider. During the spring semester, I also joined the western team as an intermediate rider. As a senior, I competed for both teams in the open flat, open fences division and the open horsemanship, open reining division.
