For six years I have been competing at local and AA shows under the tutelage of Joy Kloss from Fox Hunt Farm. At 8 years old I got my first pony which is when I first started to learn the ropes of full horse care such as mucking stalls, feeding, and turning out. Once I started riding with Joy I became a working student at 12 years old and stayed a working student with her until I graduated high school and moved on to college. As a working student my duties included tacking up and tacking down for our professional rider as well as supervising the lesson kids. Other duties included organizing and cleaning, laundry, wrapping horses legs or vetwrapping their feet, as well as flatting and schooling client/sale horses. Two nights a week I was also in charge of night check so I would turn out the horses for the night and give last hay and water.
As a working student my specialities mainly consisted of riding. I would ride 2-6 horses a day. These horses all varied in experience and age, either being a client's horse or sale horse. I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to ride and train a 3 year old mare and learn how to efficiently and successfully train young/green horses. I was also used to school horses that needed some tougher training, therefore I am not afraid of a horse who may rear or buck.
All 13 years of my riding experience have been hunter/jumper as well as equitation. I have ridden in clinics taught by Sean McCook and Kim Perlman, as well as auditing a David Tromp clinic and Bernie Traurig clinic. I have also ridden in two Emerging Athlete Program sessions, one taught by Joe Fargis and the second taught by Anne Kursinski.
I have been competing at horse shows such as HITS Ocala, HITS Culpeper, HITS Saugerties, Devon Fall Classic, Princeton Show Jumping and many more. Over the years I received catch rides from Joy Kloss, Kayley Kloss, as well as clients from Fox Hunt Farm. In the fall of 2016 I went to Marshall & Sterling finals with my mare to compete in the high children's jumpers where we placed third and sixth. This past summer my mare and I competed in the low junior jumpers and 1.25m jumpers.
