I have an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Equine Management. My classes involved the following; Equine nutrition, Equine Health, Farrier Introduction, Colt Starting, Advanced Horsemanship, Farm Management 1 and 2, Business Management 1, Equine Evaluation, Equine Breeding, Equine Science, Horsemanship. I currently am working on an online associates degree in Agribusiness with a graduation in May of 2018. I have more experience and previous occupation info upon request.
My current main duties include animal care, ground maintenance, equipment operation , fencing, and anything that needs to be done on a ranch
I worked for a boarding stables as a stable hand for 2 years. I was involved in most asspects of the stables; feeding (medications and supplements), grooming, tacking, riding, occasional giving of a lesson, maintenace of the grounds, holding horses (farrier, vet, chiro, ect.), sales prep, interacting with boarders, and some parreli horsemanship. I also worked part-time for an equine sanctuary as a stable hand which was primarily feeding and mucking.
In college I interned with M/2 Performance Horses where I learned how to ultrasound and care for a mare/foal. I also exercised and drilled the performance horses. I helped with the runnings of her supplement and tack store. I was also responsible for the horses at barrel race futurities and derbies with the following tasks; warming-up, cool downs, medications, tacking, grooming, feeding, and mucking. I also helped with the booth at these shows.
In general horse care I have experience in wrapping legs, wound care, medication, IM shots, nutritional needs, recognizing symptoms to different sicknesses, behavior, handling, grooming. I do have some experience in trimming.
I take pride in organization. I have great people skills and like to keep communication in high working order.
I have primarily been riding in western my whole life, though I have some experience in english. I can take a colt or broke horse from the ground to the different western movements of side passing, pivots, forehand turns, backing, stopping, collection, leads, and rollbacks. I've ridden colts, barrel horses, broke horses, and ranch horses.
I have given lessons to people needing more confidence and just wanting to learn more about horsemanship and getting a partnership with their horse.
Competition wise I have competed in Open barrel races, Ranch Rodeos, Team Sorting, Ranch Horse Competitions, and your general open shows with events from showmanship to pole bending. I was heavily involved 4H showing.
