I am in charge of day-to-day management of about 10 staff members for a beekeeping operation. Responsibilities include forecasting equipment needs, overseeing equipment construction, assigning equipment needs in the field, and scheduling staff.
I spent last summer living and working as a wrangler for Swan Mountain Outfitters in Glacier National Park. There, I led horseback tours of the park, in addition to caring for 40 horses (feeding, grooming, tacking, watering, mucking). I shadowed a few packing trips, and learned a lot about mule packing in the mountains. I spent the ages of 14-18 and some summers between college semesters working at the Ramapo Equestrian Center after school and on weekends. Most responsibilities included feeding, watering, grooming, tacking, tending to minor injuries, spotting lessons, cleaning stalls and the barn, facilities maintenance, you name it, etc. I trained in dressage, jumping, and western, and helped to start multiple young horses with natural horsemanship techniques. In that time I was teaching lessons in addition to previously mentioned responsibilities. I've volunteering with an equine therapy group, often leading a therapy horse or assisting a client, as well as grooming and tacking.
I've showed in low levels of jumpers and dressage. I spent a summer trail riding in Western tack. I don't feel particularly attached to one discipline, and can be happy doing anything!
