Ive been a professional equestrian for over eighteen years. My skill set has made me proficient in many areas including competitive riding, stable and property management, light carpentry, fencing, heavy machinery operation, lesson programs, equine breaking and training. I'm equally comfortable with clients and their horses. I'm an avid foxhunter and currently a member of the Wentworth Hunt Club. I'm a team player and an asset to any program. I'm experienced but open minded, easy going sans ego.
I currently manage Rummler Run Farm in Buxton, Me. My duties include riding, breaking, training, feeding, sales, mucking, lessons, and seeing to the day to day operations of the farm.
I have 30 years of equine experience, 18 years of it as a professional. I currently manage Rummler Run Farm, a Hunter/jumper facility offering boarding, training, lessons, sales, importation, breeding, showing and fox hunting. My duties include the afore mentioned and all other day to day barn operations. I learned how to ride at Fairfield County Hunt Club in Westport, Ct under the tutelage of Emerson Burr. I've held three working student positions. HoopDance Hollow with Ken Torres in Connecticut, House Mountain Farm in Knoxville, Tn under Liz Green and Strong Stock Farm with John Niceley in Knoxville, Tn. I have years of stable management experience with barns of my own and others. I have experience as an independent contractor for farms and individual clients. I've been a member of the Fairfield, Tennessee Valley and Wentworth hunt clubs. I cannot list all my experience in 1000 words or less but can provide a more extensive list of references upon request.
I'm very good with young and difficult horses (people too). I have extensive experience breaking and retraining horses. I feel that bringing out the best in these horses is the most challenging but rewarding part of the job. I also have a special knack for foxhunting and Hunter and jumper competitions.
In addition to my experience in the show ring doing Hunter, jumper, and equitation, I have over twenty years of fox hunting experience. I have participated in dressage, cross-country and three phase events. I've done some western riding, cutting and cattle herding, though my roping skills are not my strongest suit. I also have driving and in-hand showing experience. I do a lot of work breaking young horses and retraining horses who have developed issues.
As a junior I competed on the A circuit in equitation and pony hunters. As a teenager I made the move to the jumper ring. I attended night school to allow me the opportunity to work during the day in exchange for showing on the weekends. I competed all over zone 1/ New England. As an adult I have continued to compete in the show ring whenever possible. I also have competition experience in Eventing, in-hand, Hunter trials and paces.
