I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.

Daily routine care: feeding, grooming, medicating, and making sure horses are comfortable and well kept. Contacting and keeping up with farriers and vets for horses health, breeding sheds, etc.
My parents have owned and maintained a throughbred breeding farm in Shelbyville, Kentucky which has given me a deep knowledge and appreciation for these creatures. I have cared and maintained the health of elderly horses, young foals, racehorses, yearlings, show horses, and foster broodmares. The 18 years of continious horse care has given me a vast knowledge in terms of correct nutrition (specific breed, including supplments, correcting underweight/overweight issues), proper foot care (dealt with previous issues with laminitis, founder, thrush, bowed tendons, bruised heels, inflammed fetlocks, etc), foaling and breeding (scheduling van/breeding shed appointments, planning/researching the best pedigree/breeding possible, emergency foaling/situations.
Thoroughbred and Saddlebred care.
I have shown American Saddlebreds since the age of five. I immediately fell in love with their ostentatious beauty and form, and began showing for John & Renee Biggins at Biggins Stables, in Simpsonville, Kentucky.. I have also trained my own trail horse, a quarter horse named Blue, from the age of two. I am well versed in both English and western, as well as hunter/jumper.
3 time KASPA state champion. Successful ribbons at Shelbyville horse show, Lawrenceburg, May Classic, etc.
