I started taking lessons in 2006 and began volunteering also in 2010. In 2013 I was approached about an opportunity to provide care for a horse that had been abandoned. I assumed responsibility for this horse for one year. I was in a student worker position at Marquis Stables from October 2016 to March 2017 doing chores, working horses and taking lessons in dressage. When the owners had travelled, they asked that I maintained day to day operations in their absence. I was then offered an opportunity at Roses to Reins in March 2017 which allowed me to be involved in training horses for shows and sales. I was also able to give lessons to beginner riders of all ages. I am now attending school at UW-River Falls studying Animal Sciences. Some of the classes I have taken so far are Equine Management, Nutrition, and Farrier Training. I am interested in a career in horse training and management, so I am seeking out a position for the summer of 2018 to broaden my knowledge and experience.
