I babysit horse owner's barns for them when they are away. I usually sit down and talk with them about how they typically run their barn and learn about what needs that they have, so I can best utilize my skills to assist them.
Equine Work Experience
When I was eight years old, I got my first horse. An eight year old Arabian mare. We trained in Parelli and would jump a bit just for fun. A few years later I sold her and got two more horses. A seven year old TWH gelding and a 14 year old SSH gelding. I trained both of them in Parelli. I then acquired a miniature donkey that I raised and taught to jump small jumps on liberty. I unfortunately had to sell my two horses and donkey and move to a new area.
When that happened, I started training in beginner Dressage for a couple of years and successfully competed twice. I absolutely fell in love with the sport, but due to a riding accident, I suffered a severe concussion that put me out of the game for a while. I would absolutely love to get back into training in Dressage and competing.
I am currently volunteering at a nonprofit barn that specializes in different types of therapy, including hippotherapy, for children with special needs.
I have always had a unique ability to connect with any animal that I come in contact with. I was trained in Intermediate Parelli, Beginner Dressage, as well as Pleasure Riding. I used to be a Veterinary Assistant for two years, so I am somewhat knowledgable when it comes to sickness or wounds. I'm incredibely passionate about animals, especially horses. They have always held my heart.
