I have 38 years of equine experience. I have owned two horse's and handled many different horse breeds. I am a registered nurse with an associates degree in applied science and 20 years of hands on experience. I have experience supevising other's as well as orientating new staff. I have also worked in sales and marketing in the medical field.
Duties of Current Occupation
I am a nursing supervisor on the weekends. I handle all aspects of running a long term nursing facilty with a patient census of 100+ and a staff of 45+.
Equine Work Experience
I have been around horse's since age nine. I took lessons, went to shows and rode other's horse'sfor experience. I worked at the farm to gain more experience and knowledge from the age of 12. My parent's bought me my first horse after five years of showing them I was dedicated to the sport and most of all the horse's. I had that first horse 29 years! He passed away at 36 years of age. In our 29 years together we showed hunter jumper and dressage. We trail rode, taught others how to ride and just had fun together! I now own a 10 year old OTTB, and I am in love with him! He is so smart, willing and loving. We are just starting dressage.
My medical experience easily transfers to equine patients. I have experience in rehabilitation, comfort care, emergency care and wound care. I have had horses since I was nine years old, essentially growing up with them. I am a quick and eager learner and willing to teach others. I expect the best care for all, human or horse. I am quick on my feet and able to assess a sitation in a timely manner which leads to positive outcomes.
Type of Ride Work
I have ridden western and English. I have had hunter jumper experience as well as some dressage. I prefer dressage at this time in my life. I enjoy teaching children how to ride as well.
I have not competed in many years.
