Equine Work Experience
My first pony I was age 4 (I am 22, now), I have personally owned 4 horses throughout my life, and I worked at Instride Equine Assisted Therapy for 6 years.
At Instride each day I was responsible for grooming (curry, pick feet, hoof oil, pull/comb manes/tails, brush, fly spray, masks), feeding, watering, and taking (30+) horses out to pasture each day, in addition to small repairs around the barn, cleaning, mucking, and bathing horses. I rode dressage for 2-3 years as a child, and basic hunter/jumper. I showed with barrel racing and equitation. As a teenager I became interested in natural horsemanship, and primarily rode bareback. I was a volunteer leader/side walker for the Sarasota County Special Olympics Equestrian team for 4 years. I am a college student, and know that owning a horse right now again is not feasible, but I miss it greatly. I would love to work with horses again, and be able to love a new herd!
I am very familiar with various forms of Natural Horsemanship. I have ridden primarily Western, English, and Bareback. I have primarily owned QH, and Paints. I am used to working at a show facility where each horse requires specific care. I am very detail oriented and thorough. I take pride in the way my horses look, and the way horses under my care look.
