Equine Work Experience
I have been working with horses since I could walk. I learned how to ride bareback on western reining horses and learned to respect their natural instincts and movements.
I have worked with young/ green horses and also older horses that would prefer not to move and have always managed to find a good balance of both our (the horse and I) needs.
I have taught kids (and young adults) how to ride and make them comfortable around horses. And taught my horse to be comfortable around kids.
I have trained horses out of; being face shy, setting back, kicking at people, bucking and rearing, using backing up as a way to get out of work, spooking, ignoring comands, kicking back feet while cleaning hooves,
And I have trained horses to; back up, side step, spin on back feet, jump (not profesionally), trust people, run on correct lead, bow, have good ground manners, tuck their head, let someone get on their back, and enjoy being around people
I specialize in maximizing horses trust in people. I strongly believe that trust makes a remarkable difference in how a horse performs for its people. I am very good at getting horses to be spook resistant and listen to the rider for ques on how to react. I enjoy and am good at doing ground work with horses and getting them to do things they have never done before in a peaceful and humane way. I always train in a way that keeps a horses spirit and personality alive and present.
Type of Ride Work
I have always mostly done western riding but I have some experience with English Flatwork and jumping. When working with my horse I generally try to use mostly natural horsemanship and occasionally throw in both western and English. I have also done some vaulting, but only enough to have a very basic understanding. I mostly do western pleasure because of easy access to trails but I really enjoy doing reigning. I have also done some cattle sorting and barrel racing (not in actual competition)
