I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
My name is Daisie, I am 18 years old and have owned horses for the past 5 years. I have previously worked on an international showjumping yard and am keen to pursue my next job. I am open to any discipline and able to adapt to every yards standards and needs.
Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture (major: Animal Science) from The Ohio State University in 1990 twenty plus years of varied employment experiences in the equestrian industry
Farm management, riding, grooming, tack care, clipping, driving tractors/spreaders, carriages and trailers, scheduling/administering wormings, vaccinations, wound and lameness care.
I have worked in a variety of disciplines and positions within the horse industry; farm manager, trail guide, groom for international level show jumper, instructor, trainer, carriage driver, carriage livery/groom, foxhunter, therapeutic riding assistant, camp counselor.
Body clipping is something I excell at - have clippers will travel! I am confidant and careful when hitching and driving horse trailers, both bumper pull and gooseneck and have a good driving record. I am bondable, reliable and possess good organizational and people skills. Experienced with treating wound and lameness issues, scheduling and administering wormings and vaccinations and tack care and fitting.
Flatwork (dressage) is an essential part of all riding - triumphs in the arena translate to safe cross-country excursions. I grew up riding western and doing gymkana classes. My adult years have mostly been spent in an english saddle - with some carriage/coaching experience as well. I was awarded my buttons from the Arapahoe Hunt in 2001. Hacking out and jumping cross country is a passion.
I have competed in point-to points, pair-paces, eventing, hunter jumper shows, combined driving and (in my youth) western classes and pleasure driving.
