I am high functioning autism, meaning sometimes my social skills can be abit lacking leavening me confused or left out a bit, but I will always try my hardest!!
I've spent most of my life in the barn or wishing I was at the barn while studying up on as much horse facts as I possibly could. Currently have been 'manager' of our family barn of seven horses, taking up the morning feeding and exercise of most horses. Continued training of manners and such. I believe in training a horse with trust and keeping high expectations of them (and not being upset or holding a grudge against them if they don't do everything exactly the way we want them to)
Duties of Current Occupation
Currently not working. Have my GED. Currently living on my family farm and taking care of 7 horses. (One is a yearling I've had since one month of age). I have ridden English and western and am eager to learn new skills.
Equine Work Experience
Grown up trail riding western mostly, but have taken some lessons hunter-jumper at merrymount in maryland. I enjoy riding all styles (english, western, and bareback). I have ridden deadbroke horses, green horses, hot blooded horses, and rarely ever skip a beat.also have ridden gorses whom are very sensitive to aids and ones that are very desensitized to aids. I am always eager to learn new skills and improve myself as a horseperson and rider. (At home have ridden on the barrel pattern, have jumped a little over two feet, and have been working with a young horse) I have experince seeing and handling bad wounds and emergency care of them until a vet arrives. on our personal barefoot horses I do their trimming and filing majority of the time but I am not a livensed farrier and I have not shod any horses
Good at reading horse body language and being conscious of what my body communicates to them. I can handle high strung/untrained/ young horses well.
Type of Ride Work
Any and all kinds. I have ridden western and English trail/hack mostly but open and eager to learn any new styles.
I have never personally shown but have ridden at show barns. I would be eager to learn more about competition and caring for horses to prepare them for shows.
