I’m 19 and looking for a working student position to further my riding skills. I have just started cantering, and I aspire to be a trainer. I am motivated to make a career in the equine industry!
Brief description of duties I've been responsible for in previous equine roles: Lessons to children; Trail ride leader; General care of 50+ trail horses living out; Groom for 8 top show jumping horses in Germany; Care of 2 Cobs & 1 mini horse in UK.
I have been involved with horses for over 15 years. I rode for many years at a local riding school, and once I finished school I started working at the riding school, helping with daily care of the 20+ horses & teaching children to ride; I taught ages 3 - 12 years. I then worked at a Trail riding company, and there were 50+ horses, all living out. I was responsible for daily checks, deworming, first aid etc &.. As well as taking clients on beach riders, explaining horse safety & care, ensuring everyone was safe. I then got an opportunity to go to Germany, where I worked as a groom/rider for 8 top show jumping horses. I was in sole charge of their daily care, feeding, grooming, lunging, flat exercising, tacking up, cleaning tack, horse walker, taking to paddock, going to shows, turnout etc. Every aspect of horse care was covered. I then went to England where I worked as Au Pair/Groom/Kennel hand. I was responsible for 2 Cob ponies (care & training) and a miniature horse.
Competent in all areas of horse care. Able to turnout a horse, & would like more practice. Clipped 1 horse, & would love to learn more. Good rider, but would like to improve my riding ability. I love teaching children to ride. I enjoy working with, and schooling ponies. I love dogs (and all animals) and have extensive canine knowledge, having a Veterinary Nutrition Certificate. I have worked with breeding dogs and can assist with whelping & hand raising. All dogs from tiny to giant breeds.
I have ridden many different types of horses in my life. From Cob type ponies, Arabs, Thoroughbred straight off the track with zero formal training, Warmbloods, Fresians etc. I can handle "hot" horses, as well as very stubborn, lazy horses. I am competent in most Equine disciplines. Show Jumping, Dressage, Showing, Equitation, Trail Riding etc. I am 5ft and never weighed more than 9stone, which gives me the opportunity to still ride & school ponies, as well as horses in training for races.
I have competed in competitions ranging from Dressage, Show Jumping (up to 1.20m), Equitation, Showing, Hunter Classes.
