I’ve done everything from breaking untouched 10 year old horses for pleasure to training winners of state medal finals and ribbon winners at USEF pony finals and Indoors. Currently located in the research triangle (Raleigh) of North Carolina but willing to relocate for the right fit.
A mature and reliable individual with transferrable skills and a varied work experience, seeks a temp role to complete Ride Safe & general riding. Opportunity to ride out/develop in-hand work welomed. Home counties preferred.
Eager rider and former horse owner looking for work in the Southeast Florida area/ West Palm. I have been around horses my entire childhood and am looking to gain experience in the equine industry now that I am older. I am a quick learner, easily able to adapt, and have a natural passion for horses.
B.S. in Biology from UNCW, 25+ years riding experience, equine first aid, knowledge of multiple breeds, disciplines and training styles (notably natural horsemanship and positive reinforcement/clicker training), experience with children (teaching in informal settings), able to lift +50lbs and work long hours in all climates, years of washing, grooming, and attending shows, mending fences, basic landscaping
Currently I am in hospitality, serving and bartending. My goal is to move back to the East Coast, employed in the horse industry, in the fall once I've put one more amazing Wyoming summer in with my mare.
I've been around horses since I was 5, with a short break from them during my first year of college. I've been showing since I was 7 and was most competitive in middle and high school. I know my way around multiple disciplines, mainly hunter, jumper, and eventing, and always a love of trail riding. I try to exhibit natural horsemanship as much as possible. I've been a stablehand since I was 16 and still work occasionally. I've also worked as a part time trainer for children and adults, a trail guide, and an exercise rider for various horses over the years doing various disciplines. I can lunge and work on basic ground manners and undersaddle issues. I also know basic equine first aid.
Update: most recently I have been living in Wyoming, enjoying the western lifestyle. My TB is mainly used for trail riding but was also in Jackson's 4th of July parade (2021). I've done some ranch work including wrangling, trail guiding dudes, and horse and cow sorting.
Great people skills, experience teaching children and adults in informal educational settings, administrative experience, vast knowledge of animals and animal care (specifically horses but also, being a former zookeeper: birds of prey, reptiles, small mammals such as sloths, armadillos, servals, anteaters, and exotic birds such as macaws, flamingos, cockatoos....but I doubt any of these will be in your barn)
20+ years of riding experience (started when I was 5). Started my riding career doing jumpers, schooled 4'6" and showed 4' in child/adult divisions; moved to hunter when I switched trainers, attended rated shows around NC and SC; started riding an OTTB in highschool and started doing 3 day events, gained basic dressage experience and fell in love with cross-country; most recently trying my hand at western ranch work including gathering and sorting horses and cattle. Always lots of trail riding.
Jumpers: showed 3-4ft in child/adult divisions; Hunters: attended rated shows; Eventing: attended multiple 3 day events; attended some Hunter shows in college and competed with UNCW Equestrian team
I started showing when I was 7 and continued through college. Once I entered highschool I started taking green horses/OTTBs, which eventually became my passion. I almost never did well on these guys, but it was for their benefit, not mine. Truly, I am not a particularly competitive person.
