I would love to work over the Summer. Being paid is entirely optional, I am doing this for the experience and for the love of horses and want to get better. Prefer a show barn so I can see how top trainers/riders/horses compete.
Qualifications

I have clipping experience, and have pulled a couple horse's manes, but would need more experience with plaiting and pulling especially. Qualified to clean stalls/paddocks, groom, tack up, exercise any horse, lunge, help beginners learn the ropes, and any easy small job that can be explained to me. I can do heavy-lifting to some degree, and if I am unable to lift something, I know my physical limits and can ask for help.

Duties of Current Occupation

Working student. Fill slow feeders with hay bales, refill water troughs, muck out paddocks, exercise horses, groom horses, tack up, lunge. Still in High School, would love a Summer grooming job!

Equine Work Experience

I have worked in a professional equestrian environment since I was around 8. I started at a professional hunter barn, and leased a pony for a while. I competed up to short stirrup ponies at that barn, then moved to a co-op hunter/jumper barn. I owned my first large pony, and competed in primarily the hunters. I have been working at the same barn since that time, around 9 and a half. I owned a thoroughbred jumper for a couple years, and competed up to the .80 jumpers. He then became permanently injured, so I took a 2 year hiatus. I have since come back, and am looking to gain experience through work.

Small amount of experience with plaiting/pulling, needs work. Small amount of horse first-aid experience, needs work. Know what lameness looks like. Can use simple medicinal items and give meds.

Specialities

I have experience working with mostly geldings, almost all young thoroughbreds at a hunter/jumper facility in Snoqualmie, Washington. I have 5 years of riding experience, and have competed up to the .80 jumpers. I do not have team leading experience, but will take orders and won't stop working until it is done exactly the way I was told to do it. Quick at mucking out, grooming, tacking up, and am open to working in a team or alone.

Type of Ride Work

I have ridden green horses and young horses. For exercising horses, I mainly do flat work, but regularly take lessons for jumping. I have not had the opportunity to start any horses, but I know I have the capacity and persistence to do so, if required for a job. I will ride any horse I am put on, and if I am thrown and not horribly injured, I will get back on. I own my own saddle, stirrup leathers, and stirrups, and that can be taken with me anywhere.

Competition Details

I have competed thoroughly, and know the show environment very well. I am not stressed in crowds, around scared horses, upset people, and know how to set up a horse in a show stall, as we were always required to do that ourselves at my current barn. Exercised horses at shows in warm-up rings, know basic warm-up ring rules, held horses at shows for hours.
