A mature and reliable individual with transferrable skills and a varied work experience, seeks a temp role to complete Ride Safe & general riding. Opportunity to ride out/develop in-hand work welomed. Home counties preferred.
Eager rider and former horse owner looking for work in the Southeast Florida area/ West Palm. I have been around horses my entire childhood and am looking to gain experience in the equine industry now that I am older. I am a quick learner, easily able to adapt, and have a natural passion for horses.
I have worked with horses for almost 5 years now, and I've always been willing to do the nasty jobs that everyone else hated if that meant I even got to be around the horses for a little longer or possibly got to ride. I've learned a lot about horses and the equestrian trade straight from experience, and I'm always hungry to learn more. Anything I don't know, I will learn quickly and do my best to do it correctly. I believe hard work can get me where money could never.
Filling waters, mucking stalls, turning out/bringing in, feeding hay/grain/supplements/meds, making grain for next feeding, sweeping and keeping barn tidy, etc.
I worked at Twin Maples Farm in Lynden, WA for several years in exchange for lessons and rides. I did pretty much everything there, including mucking, refilling and cleaning water buckets and troughs, raking, sweeping, and general cleaning up, moving horses from paddock to paddock, grooming horses for owners and lesson kids, teaching summer camps, working with horses on the ground, feeding hay, grain, etc. and so much more. My boss and trainer at that farm said this about me: "Rebekah worked for me as a working student doing barn chores and horse care in exchange for riding lessons. She was most valuable however as an assistant In my summer horsemanship riding camps. She has a wonderful work ethic, very positive attitude, gets along well with others and manages her time well. I highly recommend Bekah Macdonald. She is a wonderful young lady well raised, from a good family." I also worked at Creidmount Stables in Bellingham, WA, doing much of the same things, but with many more horses.
I have worked at several different barns, for many years, and done just about anything and everything that needs to be done at a barn. Having been at several different places, I've seen different ways to do things and figured out how to be the most efficient with each task while still doing high-quality work. If there are any skills that you would need me to be able to do, you can be sure I will apply myself to learning to do them the best way possible
I do mostly jumpers, and that is my main focus for the future, but I also have a little experience with the hunters, equitation, and dressage. I have ridden many different kinds of horses and learned how to adapt to different horses quickly and figure out how to ride and communicate best with them. I don't have as much riding experience as many people, as I've always worked for every riding opportunity. I learn very quickly, however, and I always work very hard and try to work even harder.
I don't have too much show experience, but I have helped at several shows for Twin Maples Farm, and I am very familiar with the show atmosphere. I did show with IEA for a year and was semi-successful with that. I also helped take care of our team horses at those shows and helped bathe them there, groomed and tacked up, led them to the arena, walked them a little to help warm them up, and helped with loading and unloading.
