I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
My name is Daisie, I am 18 years old and have owned horses for the past 5 years. I have previously worked on an international showjumping yard and am keen to pursue my next job. I am open to any discipline and able to adapt to every yards standards and needs.
I have worked over the past 7 years for the different trainers and programs I’ve ridden with. Typically I worked unpaid, and worked as a workin student. My first trainer Lisa Shane has me groom for her at times and help do training rides on different horses in the barn. Once I moved to Archway Equestrian I waited a year before I started to work part time as a groom as well as barn hand doing any necessary chores needed. I currently am working again after a few months off when I was back in in person school. I am experienced with grooming and tacking horses, as well as wrapping legs, packing feet, treating small scrapes, taking temps, feeding, and all other necessary requirements.
I have ridden many different horses throughout the 7 years. Most recently I have ridden my lease horse as well as my precious horse who is now my sisters. Before that however I used to ride all horses throughout the barn I rode at, I typically rode fairly well trained horses, but have had my mix of greener horses. When riding other horses then my own I typically focused on flatwork, but have had the opportunity to jump a well. Additionally I know the basics of groundwork.
