Equine Work Experience

I have over 12 years equine experience beginning when I was 7 years old taking English riding lessons, attending numerous clinics for hunter/jumper, participating in shows and also attending week long camps that provided the opportunity to learn and expand my overall knowledge of horses and the care they require. In the last 18 months I've worked at high functioning boarding facility cleaning up to 36+ stalls a day in addition but not limited too: Feeding 60+ horses twice a day, turning horses in and out. Fed and watered horses according to schedules and feeding instructions. Mixed food, liquid formulas, medications, and food supplements according to instructions, prescriptions, and knowledge of the horses in my care. Examined and observed horses to detect signs of illness, disease, or injury. Organized, maintained, and disinfected horses quarters, such as pens and stables, and equipment.

Specialities

I clean stalls in a quick and efficient manner and always maintain a clean organized barn. My attention to detail allows me to easily spot potential health concerns and quickly act to address the needs of the horse. I can spot a lame horse, knowledgeable of signs and causes of colic and overall standard equine health. I have experience in exercising, lunching, grooming, and tacking. I am very teachable with a passion on the how and why while always being willing I to learn and try new things.

Type of Ride Work

Initially staring in the hunter/jumper discipline, myself and my OTTB are currently training for eventing. He was more green broke when I bought him. However, in the last year he has shown great improvement. I've done flat work on 5 and 6 year old who were training. I am currently in the early phases of training an older problem pony to eventually be used as a children's lesson pony. I don't have any experience with starting horses but is something I'm working towards.

Competition Details

I have competed in local Hunter/Jumper shows in the surrounding area. With plans to continue competing as my horse continues his training. I have never been a competition groom but with the extensive knowledge I have in riding, caring for horses and having competed myself I feel I could quickly learn the finer details needed to be a experienced competition groom.
