Equine Work Experience
I have been working in the equine industry for 5 years. I rode Western off and on for the first 3 years. The last 2 years I have competed with the Colby Community College's IHSA Equestrian Team. I learned how to ride English there and greatly improved my Western riding skills. I am confident in riding all types of horses in an arena stetting. I have some experience riding horses on trails, in parades, down gravel roads, and through pastures or pens with cattle.
Specialities
I have limited horse breeding experience, but I have worked with one stallion before. I have a bit more experience working with foals from birth all the way though to adulthood. I had the opportunity to do a 3 day draft horse driving clinic. I learned how to identify the tack, harness the horses, hitch the horses to various carts, and drive the team of horses on roads and though obstacle courses. I also ride both English and Western disciplines.
Type of Ride Work
On the English side, I have done flatwork up to the Canter. I have done some no stirrup work at the trot. I have also started learning to jump on small X's. Western, I have mostly done walk trot horsemanship. I have also done a few trail and speed event classes. Breed wise I have mostly ridden Quarter Horses, Thoroughbreds, and various breeds of Warmbloods. Training wise the horses have all been finished and safe for beginner and intermediate riders.
